With the Versace renaissance proving to be back with a bang, the brand’s Medusa logo has been hitting all the red carpets this year, from the VMAS to the Met Gala, and music videos in between. While Versace has also been spotted on many celebs around the world, it will next be seen at Kith, where two brands will become one.
While it may be hard to envision metal mesh with graphic tees, Kith is trying to bridge the gap between hypebeasts and hypebabes. The man himself, Donatella Versace, sums it up best, “I think Kith [is] talking to the millennial and Gen Z generations in a completely different way—like we are trying to do with Versace—and this is what I like about this project. It is something that their typical customer doesn’t expect, but at the same time, it fits perfectly with what both brands stand for.”
Just last week, Bella Hadid, her brother Anwar, and many other catwalk models took to Kith’s runway in head-to-toe Kith x Versace, giving it the celebrity stamp of approval. The collaboration includes menswear, womenswear, and a range of accessories including rings and socks.
Moreover, the sunglasses seem to be catching the eye of many. “This is a very important piece,” Ronnie Fieg, designer of Kith, begins. “For me it was like Biggie Smalls wore these and made them really famous is my world, and also my mom had them. It was both ends of the spectrum. Being able to bring back the classic frame with an updated silhouette is really special to me.”
From the way Fieg explained this and paused in the preview, it proves that this collaboration, among the many that Kith has done, is special. We wouldn’t be surprised if the likes of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, or Hailey Baldwin are soon taking to the streets in Kith x Versace.
